A Note From Our General Manager

Dearest Partners and Friends of Christian Television,

 

The end of another year has come, and the approaching year has the sound of a Sci Fi movie title – 2010.

Certainly, profound changes and challenges are occurring within our nation and world. Yet, this ministry has experienced growth and blessing, along with new opportunities and open doors to share the love of God with our beautiful Southwest community.

 

            “Now therefore, our God, we thank Thee, and praise Thy glorious Name.”

                                                                                                           (I Chron.29:13)

Please accept our most sincere thanks to each one who has stood with us this year by prayers and gifts. Together, with your help, there have been many accomplishments. Some were our transition to digital broadcasting and the addition of a second (all Spanish) digital channel. This required – and continues to require – new technology and equipment. There are many excellent new programs on our daily schedules of  both channels. A significant one is a daily half hour of prayer for Cd. Juarez and Mexico, lead by various area pastors and persons from both sides of the border. We continually discover new viewers who find  KSCE-LIFE! and find hope in the Lord Jesus Christ. The letters and calls we receive are moving and inspiring as our viewers share what God is doing in their lives through the station – thank you!

 

Many of the challenges we face are also opportunities, such as the loss of viewers because of the digital transition. This difficult technology of converter boxes, etc., has lead to a major loss of donations, as well. To overcome this we are preparing several strategies. One is to increase our signal strength. Another is to put translators in both Las Cruces and Alamogordo areas.   The third is an application to the FCC for a permit to operate a Spanish low-power station in analog in order to regain coverage of Cd. Juarez and those people who have not acquired digital TV sets.    Please pray for us, that the Lord will provide every resource needed to accomplish these life impacting goals – that everyone might be able to receive the words of LIFE.

 

Another exciting challenge that KSCE now faces is the need for a larger building. One of our partners was long concerned with the need, and sacrificially gave seed money for a new building.   We have been looking for land to build and seeking God’s guidance in this matter, realizing that unless the land were donated, we couldn’t even begin to think about building.   A new possibility has arisen – the possibility of purchasing a newly vacated former TV station. The building is old, yet fully wired and prepared for television broadcast. There is plenty of space and many advantages.   The purchase price is considerably more money than was donated to us, and there will be costs involved with moving and necessary building repairs. Please pray with us over this decision. We believe that this move would enable the station to grow and to be more accessible  to the community.   However, we will need much support to be able to take this huge step forward.

 

Dear friends, as we end this year and begin a new one, we urge you to draw close to our precious Saviour whose birthday we are remembering.   In Him alone is truth and life; joy and peace, love and hope, protection and security; wisdom and guidance, justice and righteousness, light and salvation.  

 

May the mercy and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be yours during Christmas and throughout the New Year!
